Finishing a Wall Pedestal Back

After prepping the form, pin a piece of felt or leather overlapping the pedestal base.

Cut out the shape required by carefully following the edge of the base.

Rough the form and back with a Form Prep Roller or Stout Ruffer for good glue adhesion. I prefer to cover the lower part of the form and pedestal back with a thin Bondo mixture after roughing.
When this hardens, sand off any rough spots.
Either way will work, but I feel I get a better glue adhesion with the Bondo mixture.

Mount your deer.
Instead of nailing the hide to the back, glue the lower edge of the form using a good grabbing epoxy type glue.
The Cartilage Liner Adhesive works great for this.

After the glue has set, trim the skin along the edge of the pedestal base. Be careful not to cut the hairs.

Glue the felt or leather to the pedestal base butting the edges up to the hide.

A spray glue or the Cartilage Liner Adhesive works well for this.
