How To Cut a Skull Plate








Correctly positioning horns or antlers on a mount often causes problems for taxidermists. If cut as shown in the illustrations, the skull/horn base will match the Positive-Set skull plate provided with each McKenzie form.


The only work you have to do is level the horns and secure them in place.


Saw skull midway between front of horns and eye sockets down and back until level with rear center of eye socket and then from rear, level to center of eye socket, until this cut meets the first (see diagrams below).
