How To Use Tom Sexton's Fish Filler

Step 1: Shape a "sawdust pillow" into a curve that you desire. Mix a batch of molding plaster into a slightly stiff consistency and pour a bed onto the plastic bag.

Step 2: Smooth the plaster into a uniform thickness on the pillow. Press the fish show side down in the plaster. Adjust the body to final position and spread the fins.

Step 3: Set aside until the plaster begins to firm. As soon as the plaster begins to go through its first "heat," remove the fish from the mold (start with the head first.)

Step 4: Skin the fish and preserve the skin. Put the fish back into the mold, securing the head first. Adjust the skin into position using a pin. Mix a batch of Tom Sexton Fish Filler.

Step 5: Force filler into the head and throat areas of the fish (do not allow any air pockets in the head.

Step 6: Begin filling the body and make sure to force some filler down into the base of the tail. After over-filling the body, push a wooden block into the filler and cover.

Step 7: Rough shape the fish, while forcing any excess filler out through the incision. As soon as the filler begins to harden you can start shaping the fish into the final product.

Step 8: Before the filler hardens completely, but is firm enough to be handled, carefully remove the fish from the mold. You will see how easy and accurate this method is!
