Step-By-Step Instructions for Using Reproduction Skulls with Pedicles

McKenzie Reproduction Skulls are extremely realistic.
Square anchor pins are included.

1. Grind a flat pocket under the antler burr roughly 1/8” deep.

2. Drill a hole in the antler that is slightly larger than the antler pin. This will help with adjustments.

3. Insert the pin in the antler and insert in the skull. This will allow you to see what adjustments are needed for a proper fit.

4. If the angle isn’t correct several options are available. In most cases, you will want to drill the hole in the skull a little larger for the proper fit.

5. If the alignment still isn’t correct bend the pin as needed. This can be done by placing it in a vice and bending with a wrench to the correct angle.

6. You can see the amount of bend that was needed for this particular antler.

7. Without using the pin, test fit to see if the antler burr fits onto the pedicle properly in the pocket you ground out. If not, you may need to grind the pedicle for a proper fit.

8. Place the pin in the antler and skull. Everything should line up correctly and the “pocket” should fit securely on the pedicle.

9. Mix up a fast setting epoxy type glue, such as 5-Minute Epoxy, for gluing the pin in the skull and the antler.

10. Working quickly, insert glue in the antler.

11. Insert glue in the skull and set the pin.

12. Slide the antler onto the pin and hold in the proper position until the glue sets up. Clean up any excess glue. Repeat the procedure for the other antler.
